Turn 1 – Should be easy money!
"Having said that...", Ouroz continued, "One of my contacts is pulling in a favor. I know we have a number of jobs on the table, but this one needs to be done ASAP. Pay is mediocre, but I owe 'em. Simple job - secure a cargo drop until the client can pick it up. The only complication is that one of my contact's uh, competitors, got wind of it and is sending a crew to 'liberate' the cargo. Should be easy money."
The team let out a collective sigh. Whenever Ouroz said something was 'easy money', there was bound to be trouble. Getting to the ship will have to wait....
So the crew geared up, and Magnus, CR4NK3, Hkaaie add Paul hopped into their Air/Raft, set coordinates to the site and flew off at max speed. Ouroz and Ness followed behind on their grav bikes. They were to fly a search pattern, looking for the Raiders and then join; however, when the Air/Raft arrived, the Raiders were already there......
At first, only two opponents were visible. Moments after hopping out of the Air/Raft, CR4NK3 announced "Warning! Additional enemies incoming from our left flank.
"C'mon Ouroz and Ness.... Hurry up!"
The opponents, Raiders by the look of them, started closing range. Their leader, sporting a Military Rifle, took a shot at Magnus, but missed. The Crew started to move into cover, advancing as they could.
CR4NK3 kept moving up, and lined up a shot against the Raider Lieutenant (clearly standing out with his fancy red hat). His shot was true, dropping the Lieutenant where he stood. The remaining Raiders kept moving up - even with their leader dead, they maintained their aggressive approach. One took a shot at Magnus, and Magnus drops to the ground.
CR4NK3 and Paul maneuver around, taking out another Raider, and Hkaaie, not one to miss out on the fun, shot and dropped a Raider.
At this point, Ouroz and Ness finally arrive, and hop off their grav bikes.
The crew continues to move to secure the cargo drop, but one of the Raiders gets a shot off, dropping CR4NK3 in a hail of sparks. The remaining Raiders continue to advance on the Crew, firing as they move. Paul, not being used to combat, drops back into cover.
Hkaaie decides he has had enough of this nonsense, and engages one of the Raiders in hand-to-hand combat. He sliced the Raider open, dropping him. An odd object catches Hkaaie's eye at this time, and he moves to get a better look.
The remaining Raider shouted an obscenity, and dashed at Hkaaie, who, sneering at the feeble insult, attacked the Raider with his Dewclaws, ending the last Raider's life. He then walked over and picked up the item he saw - a Jump Belt that probably fell out of one of the containers.
As the smoke from the battle ended, Magnus and CR4NK3 slowly got up. Magnus was just shaken up; his Beam Light on his Blast Pistol, however, was damaged. CR4NK3's systems reset, but he had to scavenge a spare part from his Blast Rifle, damaging it in the process.
The crew secured the cargo until the client arrived for pickup, then returned to the Startown and accepted their payment. Unfortunately, the client noticed the missing jump belt, and complained. The crew's patron did not appreciate that, and ghosted the crew.
